Deb Shaver accepted a check for $500 from New Holstein Utilities through a grant from Wisconsin Public Power Inc. (WPPI) Energy toward the Cycling Without Age program.

Randy Jaeckels of New Holstein Utilities presented the check to Shaver and Wendy Jacobs of Willowdale Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in New Holstein. The donation was the first toward the program Shaver is helping to coordinate to purchase “trishaw” bicycles which will be used to bicycle elderly residents around the area. The bicycles cost about $7,000 apiece. Zion Lutheran Church in New Holstein is acting as the financial agent for the project. Donations can be sent to Zion Lutheran Church/CWA Project, 1702 Van Buren St., New Holstein, WI 53061.
