It's just a start, but the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association (WIAA) has a rough draft completed in the possible realignment of area high school athletic conferences.
The Tri-County News obtained the rough draft that was sent out to athletic directors and asks them for their thoughts and what could be a long process.
Most importantly, the draft has Chilton coming back into a conference with long time rivals New Holstein and Kiel. New Holstein has told the WIAA for the past few years that they would like to leave the present Eastern Wisconsin Conference due to declining enrollment.
Under the first draft, the Eastern Wisconsin Conference would include: Chilton, Kiel, New Holstein, Valders, Two Rivers, Sheboygan Falls, Manitowoc Roncalli and Denmark. The other four members of the current EWC, Campbellsport, Kewaskum, Plymouth and Waupun would join Winnebago Lutheran, Berlin and Ripon in an yet unnamed new conference.
Chilton left the EWC for the Olympian Conference in 1999.
This is just the first step in the process and no timetable has been established for it. The draft is likely to undergo several changes before it even has a chance to be finalized. A PDF of the WIAA draft is linked below.
