| Kiel boy attends 'bagpipe boot camp' |
Twelve-year-old Tyler Tuttle attended bagpipe "boot camp" to better serve his country. Tyler just spent a week away from his rural Kiel home at bagpiper camp in St. Paul, Minn., learning and practicing the art of playing his Scottish Shepherd bagpipes. | Vet's memories stirred by visit to D. C. |
World War II veteran Alphons Scharenbroch of rural Kiel recently participated in a Northeast Wisconsin Old Glory Honor Flight to Washington, D. C. where he and 96 other veterans viewed the World War II Memorial, Arlington National Cemetery, and numerous other key sites in the U.S. Capitol.
The Honor Flight is a way by which WWII veterans are being honored for their service. Private funding has made this possible for a generation of veterans that is passing. Scharenbroch, 86, who is a member of the Kiel VFW Post 6707 was lucky to be included in the June 1 Honor Flight because one of the men on the flight list was unable to make the trip.

"Halloween Eve of Fun Carnival" hosted by the Sheboygan County Boys and Girls Club- Howards Grove Site was held on Oct. 28, 2008. Children were encouraged to wear costumes and enjoy games and small prizes during the annual event. Homemade chili and baked items were also for sale. Proceeds to benefit the organization. Admission to the event was a bag of candy per child. Site Organizer and Kiel Resident Melissa Landwehr helped organize the event held from 6 p.m to 8 p.m. Colorful costumes and games were enjoyed by all. Wednesday, October 29, 2008
