To the editor:
In the March 2 issue of the Tri-County News, Mr. Matt Piper once again blamed Dr. Ebert for the large price tag of Mr. Piper’s very own open records requests and the difficulty of fulfilling them.
In his letter, Matt complains that Dr. Ebert is attending KASD events rather than working on Piper’s requests. I’d like to point out the obvious, that Dr. Ebert has a right to his own personal family time. I know I am not alone in feeling that we are very fortunate to have a school administrator that cares so much for the kids of the district that he dedicates a significant amount of his personal time to cheering for them.
Mr. Piper’s belief that his frivolous open records requests entitle him to decide what Dr. Ebert should do in his own time is completely unreasonable and foolish. Clearly, Mr. Piper is entirely responsible for his extensive open records request and the time and money they are robbing from our students. I’d like to kindly ask Mr. Piper to please stop hurting our schools. Please allow the already limited funding our district has to be used for the benefit of our schools and students. Please allow all school staff to focus on the invaluable job of providing the best education possible for our children. The support for Dr. Ebert is strong and is not going anywhere despite Mr. Piper’s best efforts to have him removed. Mr. Piper will not receive my vote in the spring School Board election. I will be voting for candidates that care about students. I will be voting for Jim Bajczyk, Dan Meyer and Tony Johannes.
