A kestrel nest box project has been under way in the area

A kestrel nest box project has been under way in the area with 17 nest boxes placed around a three-county area. Eight had kestels nesting in them and volunteers banded 19 chicks on Saturday from four boxes. Originally this was going to be a fundraiser through the Natural Resource Foundation for Cedar Grove Ornithological Research Station as a field trip; however, because of COVID-19 the field trip was cancelled but volunteers still were able to band the chicks with Cedar Grove’s certified bander, Rick Hill.
