Calumet urges no large gatherings

As of Monday the Calumet County Public Health Jurisdiction has an extremely high COVID-19 positivity rate of 33.5 percent, which is one of the highest nationally.

Calumet County Public Health is overwhelmed with contract tracing and has had to adjust its processes because of the extremely high numbers. In addition, as it has been widely reported, hospitals in the region are at capacity.

Because of these reasons, Calumet County Public Health does not support or recommend any large gatherings, indoors or outdoors, regardless of the purpose. In a statement released Monday, Calumet County Public Health officials said, “Please consider the health of others, as well as your own health. The ability to keep schools and businesses open depends on the choices we are making, including forgoing large gatherings.”
