During the Feb. 2 meeting of the Chilton Common Council, the alderpersons voted to approve the construction of a grilling shelter at Nennig Park.

During the pre-vote discussion, the membership of the Chilton Athletic Club, led by President Doug Kapral, proposed the option of erecting a grilling shelter in memory of Kevin Woelfel who passed away unexpectedly in December 2020.

Director of Public Works Chris Marx obtained an quote through the same vendor the city utilized for other park shelters. The price is discounted for the city. The shelter would be paid for by the Athletic Club, and the club would like to commit to the purchase with the city savings. The shelter will carry zero costs for the city. Alderperson Andrew Deehr questioned if the location of the new shelter would limit accessibility. Kapral said it would not.
