Court moves hearings to telephone

Effective immediately, Calumet County Circuit Court is temporarily stepping back in its operating plan.

The court is suspending all in-person hearings until further notice. This is a precautionary measure because of the increasingly high rate of COVID-19 cases and community spread in the area.

All hearings will be held via phone. There will be a staff member at the entrance of the courthouse to ensure anyone arriving will be turned away and instructed of the change.

Members of the public, crime victims, and others who wish to attend a hearing remotely may contact the judicial assistant at (920) 849-1465 to receive call-in directions.

COVID-19 and ensuing hospitalizations are surging in the county and surrounding areas. County officials said people should take the recommended precautions, which includes washing hands, maintaining social distance, and wearing a mask in public.
