Richard Lee LaCroix—a former dairy agent with the University of Wisconsin-Extension in Calumet and Fond du Lac counties—passed away Monday, Aug. 31 in Stoughton at the age of 75.
LaCroix passed away at his home with his family by his side with kidney and heart failure being the cause of death.
LaCroix was born to Hugo and Helen LaCroix—the fourth of eight children—in Newton. He grew up on the family dairy-hog farm and graduated from Valders High School where he earned 11 varsity letters in football, wrestling, and track.
He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Dairy Science and continued his postgraduate studies, earning a Master of Science in Soil Science at UW-Madison and graduating with scholastic honors. While a student, he participated in varsity football for the Wisconsin Badgers as an offensive right guard, lettering from 1964 to ‘66.
