It was a beautiful summer afternoon at the Broughton Sheboygan County Marsh Park on July 29 and the Friends of the Sheboygan Marsh were happy to host many of the major donors, dignitaries, and supporters who came to participate in the ground breaking ceremony for the long-awaited multi-purpose, environmental educational facility which will benefit residents of Sheboygan, Manitowoc, Calumet, and Fond du Lac counties.
Trees have already been harvested and the site cleared in preparation for construction to commence. Joseph Schmitt Construction is the general contractor overseeing the project, which includes generous donations of numerous sub-contractors providing labor and materials to supplement funds raised to complete construction.
Sheboygan County—which will benefit long-term from the new asset in the park—is providing work and funds for the infrastructure, as well as the restroom/shower facility which will service the campgrounds and be contained in one wing of the building. Meeting facilities will be available for use by local community groups.
