Over 75 Land O’Lakes employees near and far joined forces to support healthy eating across the company’s footprint.
Some employees made their way back to headquarters in Minnesota to volunteer alongside coworkers, others had boxes of materials shipped to their home, and three manufacturing facilities stepped up to offer this activity to their employees—including the Land O’Lakes cheese plant in Kiel.
Each snack pack contained unsweetened applesauce, whole grain crackers, wow butter, and a personalized “you matter” note written by employees. This volunteer opportunity was completed through a partnership with MATTER, a global nonprofit headquartered in Minnesota that helps people and companies launch projects to improve communities.
Employees at the Kiel cheese plant completed 500 of the total 5,000 snack packs donated by Land O’Lakes. All 500 of these snack packs will stay local and have been delivered to Sts. Peter & Paul Church’s food program which provides free food at no cost, no questions asked to anyone in the community in need.
“Volunteering and giving back to the community are part of our DNA. A century ago, Land O’Lakes, Inc. was formed by farmers, for farmers. We recognized that we all do better when we work together,” Kelly Bukowski, community relations specialist at Land O’Lakes, said. Employees at the company volunteer over 23,000 hours annually in the communities in which their employees live and work.
