Memorial Day activities planned in Chilton

Calumet County Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 3153 and American Legion Post 125 again will be sharing the Memorial Day parade and program in Chilton.

The day starts with the VFW firing and playing taps over 17 Calumet County cemeteries. Members of the post are reminded to be at City Hall by 6:45 a.m.

The Memorial Day Parade will start at Morrisey Park at 9:30 a.m. and march on Elm Street to Oak and then on to Memorial Drive to Klinkner Park where honors will take place. The parade will include the Chilton Police Department, Calumet County VFW Honor Guard and American Legion Post 125 Honor Guard along with American Legion Auxiliary and VFW Auxiliary Boy Scouts of America Troop 810, and Chilton Fire Department. Music for the parade and program will be provided by the Chilton City Band.

Guest speaker for the event will be Retired Colonel Dale Peterson. Jim Zitzelsberger will be master of ceremony and Father Jon Thorsen will do the invocation and benediction. Dan Wieting will present the names of those veterans who have passed in the last year, and representing the City of Chilton will be the new city administrator, David DeTroye.
