Oct. 14 hearing set on NH police issue

A public hearing has been scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 14 starting at 6 p.m. at the New Holstein Community Center in Kiwanis Park to hear citizen input on a proposal to consolidate the New Holstein Police Department into the Calumet County Sheriff’s Office.

The hearing date was scheduled at last Wednesday’s meeting of the City of New Holstein Committee of the Whole which also was held at the Community Center with several dozen citizens in attendance. It was the second consecutive Committee of the Whole meeting to bring out numerous residents who have an interest in this issue.

Aldermen mentioned the possibility of holding the Oct. 14 hearing in the High School auditorium but said schools have tight accessibility currently because of the pandemic.
