New Holstein Board of Education members Monday evening approved the preliminary budget for the 2020-’21 fiscal year.

A balanced budget of $13.5 million is being estimated at this point. Although multiple factors have yet to be finalized between now and December—including state aid and property valuation figures—district officials said early projections are that the district’s mill rate could decrease from last year. District Business Manager David Ziegelbauer said there is a chance the mill rate could drop below $9 per $1,000 of assessed valuation even though district residents approved a multi-million dollar facilities improvement referendum this spring.
