It should come as no surprise that the #1 news story of 2020 in the Tri-County News area was the COVID-19 pandemic; after all, it was the #1 story in virtually every corner of the world.

Once COVID-19 found its way to Wisconsin in late winter, everything changed—and quickly. Panic buying cleaned out some shelves in local grocery stores. Schools were closed for a while until virtual learning plans could be made. For the balance of the year, virtually all major events were cancelled.

By the end of 2020, more than 200 residents throughout the counties of Calumet, Manitowoc, Sheboygan, and Fond du Lac had died of COVID-19. The pandemic continues as 2021 begins.
