Time to open a new chapter

For the past 41 years, a week has not gone by without making some sort of contribution to Kiel’s weekly newspaper.

This past year, it has been my privilege to ease into retirement continuing to perform the duties that once attracted me to the world of community journalism.

It’s hard to believe a year has gone by since the transition to the new ownership here at the Tri-County News. But, in that year, I have been blessed to work with both past teammates and the new ownership/Wisconsin Media Group team headed by Jim O’Rourke and Joe Mathes.

I appreciate the opportunity they gave me to continue to contribute to the newspaper, and to continue to have a voice on these pages.

Alas, the time has come for the next phase of the retirement transition.

To the many people who asked why I kept on writing and reporting beyond the sale of the business, my answer has been pretty standard.

“You don’t run a race at 100 miles an hour and come to a dead stop,” was my response.
