Allen Ecker

Allen J. “Boots” Ecker, 71, of Quinney died on Saturday, Feb. 11, 2023 at Ascension Calumet Hospital in Chilton.

He was born December 1, 1951, son of the late Hilary R. and Monica (Diedrich) Ecker. Allen married Linda Joas Dec. 5, 1970 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Chilton.

Allen began his working career at Foley (former Aluminum Specialty Co.) in Chilton until their closure. It was then that he moved to Amerequip in New Holstein and later Ariens in Brillion where he remained until his retirement at the age of 62.

He was a longtime member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Stockbridge and was also a member of the Quinney Fishing Club for over 50 years. The middle of February was Allen’s favorite time of the year. He could be found preparing for and cutting holes for the family group for the sturgeon spearing season which was his favorite outdoor activity. If he wasn’t on the lake, during his free time Allen enjoyed painting and repairing his IH tractors and working in his shop.

Allen was a caring man with a big heart and used his hands and skills to help anyone in the neighborhood with their handyman repairs. If he couldn’t fix it, chances were it couldn’t be fixed. He also possessed and shared a great sense of humor with everyone he met and shared stories that transcended generations and will continue to be shared well into the future.

Survivors include his wife, Linda; his children, Michelle (Brett) Bowe and Joseph (Sheila) Ecker; his grandchildren, Breanna Bowe and her special friend, Jordan Lemke, and Alex Bowe; and Allen’s siblings, Rita Schaefer, Dorothy Alger and Robert “Joe” (Carolyn) Ecker. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings, Leroy “Bud” Ecker and Lorraine Ecker; and his siblings-in-law, Robert Schaefer, Ronald Alger and Janet Ecker. The family would like to thank Calumet First Responders, Stockbridge Fire Department, Calumet County Sheriff’s Office, Gold Cross Ambulance and the staff at Ascension Medical Center in Chilton.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 6 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 24 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Stockbridge with the Rev. Carl Diederichs officiating. Friends may call at the church from 3 p.m. until 5:45 p.m. on Friday.
