Bruce Kuba

Bruce Steven Kuba, 68, of Adams passed away in the comfort of his home on July 9, 2020.

Bruce was born at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton to George and Eunice (Hendricks) Kuba on May 30, 1952. Placed in foster care at the age of 6, he and his brothers then joined the Shaver family. He graduated from New Holstein High School in 1970. Bruce married Donna Jean Oakley on Jan. 8, 1972 at Ebenezer United Church of Christ in Chilton. They were married for 13 years and had three children. During this time he worked at the MB Company, Arps, and then Gilson’s in Plymouth as a foreman.

Bruce moved to the Adams/Friendship area in 1990, which is where he met and joined the Manthey family. He was very talented and put his handyman skills to work for many people in the community. When he was not building and fixing things, he spent his free time gardening, fishing, and hunting. Bruce and Holly opened their home to developmentally disabled people and together cared for many. He loved anything Packers, Brewers, and Badgers. Many of his days and nights were spent entertaining friends over football and baseball games.

Bruce is survived by his longtime partner of 29 years, Holly Manthey; former wife and friend Donna Kuba of Chilton; son Christopher Kuba of Green Bay; daughter Jamie Kuba Gjellstad (Clint) of Velva, North Dakota; son Michael Kuba (Steph) of Oshkosh; Chris Manthey (Nicole) of Plover; Jeremy Manthey (Jamie Johnson) of Stevens Point; grandchildren Aubrey Kuba, Charlotte Kuba, Odin Gjellstad, Isabelle Gjellstad, Ella Schuenke, Christian Manthey, Sammy Manthey, Ethan Stitely, Alaina Stitely, and Gemma Manthey. Bruce is also survived by his brothers and sisters, Mark (Jean) Kuba, Sharon Lawver, Melinda Kraft, Bonnie Abler, Chuck (Debbie) Shaver, and MaryJo (Joe) Mullenbach; and members of the Manthey family, Penny Maleski, Scott (Becky) Pease, and Rick Pease. He is also survived by many other family and friends.

Bruce is preceded in death by his biological parents, George and Eunice Kuba; foster parents Jack and Charlotte (Wendel) Shaver; brother David Henricks; brother Richard Kuba; sister Cindy McCutchen; foster brother Johnny Shaver; brother-in-law John Abler; parents-in-law Isabelle and Walter Oakley; and Lonnie and Janice Pease.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be sent to the family to help with funeral expenses.

The Kuba and Manthey family wish to extend our sincere thanks to Dr. Cursling, the staff at Riverview Cancer Center in Wisconsin Rapids, NP Laura Galloy, RN Ashley Davis, and CNA Laura Lutz at Heartland Hospice of Stevens Point. Your caregiving meant so much to us all.
