Eloy J. Kasper, 102, of Chilton, died on May 14, 2023, at Calumet medical Center in Chilton.
He was born Nov. 5, 1920, son of the late Simon and Helen (Burg) Kasper. He met Dolores Gebhart at a dance and they were married May 2, 1950.
Eloy worked at the Chilton Malting Company while also running his family farm. He used his vacation wisely: the first week was for the first hay crop, the second week was for the second hay crop, the third week was for the oats and the fourth week was for the last crop of hay for the season. Upon retirement, he and Dolores traveled across the U.S. on tour busses and also traveled to Europe.
Eloy was a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church. He liked to go golfing, but finding golf balls was always more important than his actual score. He liked going to casinos but more for people-watching than gambling. When he stayed home, he liked watching musicals and game shows on TV.
Eloy is survived by his sons, Gary Kasper and Joe (Jean) Kasper; grandchildren, Jessica (Paul) Logan, Joshua Kasper, Justin (Roberta) Kasper and Jordan (Kaitlyn) Kasper; great-grandchildren, Alex, Whitney and Zachary Logan, Adalynn, James, Greta and Theresa Kasper, with one more baby Kasper coming; and a sister-in-law, Marge Kasper.
Eloy was preceded in death by his wife, Dolores; an infant daughter, Karen; his parents, Simon and Helen; and his siblings, Vern (Mildred) Kasper, Erma (Joe) Weber, Dolores (Henry) Lisowe, Mitzy (Jerry) Pritzl and Clem Kasper.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 23 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 54 E. Main St. in Chilton. Friends may call from 5 until 7 p.m. on Monday, May 22 at Wieting Family Funeral Home, 411 W. Main St. in Chilton, and from 11:30 a.m. until 12:15 p.m. on Tuesday, May 23 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church.
Vigil prayers will be held at the conclusion of Monday evening’s visitation at the funeral home. Eloy will be laid to rest at Knollwood Chapel Mausoleum in Manitowoc at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, May 24.
