James Neuhaus

James Harvey Elmer “Jim” Neuhaus, 63, of Chilton died Friday, Sept. 23, 2022 at the Homestead Care Center in New Holstein.

He was born Feb. 16, 1959 in Chilton, son of the late Harold N. and Florence (Kandler) Neuhaus and was later confirmed at Ebenezer United Church of Christ in Chilton.

Growing up on a family farm, Jim worked for the Northland Turkey Farm in Chilton before he found his true passion of dairy farming. He dedicated his life to milking for many farmers in the area, always appreciating the various operations and knowing that he had milked and cared for a lot of cows over his lifetime.

He enjoyed the races held at the Calumet County Fairgrounds and Gravity Park, and made sure to follow the local social news from neighbors and the people he knew.

Above all else, Jim loved his family. He faithfully endeavored to do everything he could for each and every one of those he loved, and was always eager to follow the athletic paths his nieces and nephews pursued.

Survivors include his siblings: Lorraine Meyer, Elroy (Donella) Neuhaus and Carol (Bruce) Henninger; stepsister: Pamela (John) Ziolkowski; and a stepbrother-in-law: Robin Hansen. He is further survived by his nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents; his stepsisters: Evelyn Bowe and Elizabeth Hansen; a brother-in-law: John Meyer; and a nephew: Raymond Alan Henninger.

Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 5 at Ebenezer United Church of Christ, 44 W. Washington St., Chilton with the Rev. Michael Safford-Kenedy officiating. Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery. Friends may call at Wieting Family Funeral Home from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 4 and on Wednesday at the church from 12:30 p.m. until the time of the service.
