Laverne Casper

Laverne “Vern” H. Casper, 82, passed away peacefully on Monday, Dec. 14, 2020 at Willowpark Place in New Holstein.

He was born Aug. 20, 1938 on the Casper family farm in Marytown, son of the late Felix and Martina (Meyer) Casper.

After graduating from New Holstein High School in 1956, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served for three years as an aviation electrician. Vern worked for Household Utilities and Altmeyer Electric as a member of IBEW Local 494.

Vern married Janice (Mueller) on Aug. 22, 1964 at St. Martin Catholic Church in Charlestown.

He was a member of the Holy Rosary Parish. Vern enjoyed baseball, basketball, bowling, and golfing.

Survivors include his wife; two children, Dan (Renee) and Kay; six grandchildren, Matthew, Andrew, Emily, Adam, Samuel, and Philip; and his brothers and sisters, Eileen Birschbach, Rose (Jerry) Criter, Pat (Fred) Stephany, Janet (Gary) Griffiths, Elmer (Susan) Casper, and John Casper. He is further survived by his in-laws, Ellen (Jeff) Nitsch and Lyle (Debbie) Mueller.

Private family funeral services will be held at Holy Rosary Catholic Church. He will be laid to rest in the Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery following Military Rites.
