Valeria Nohl

Valeria A. Nohl, 98, of Kiel passed away Friday, March 5, 2021 at Field of Dreams Assisted Living.

Valeria was born Dec. 2, 1922 in Kiel, living most of her life on the corner of South Cedar Lake Road and STH 32. She was the daughter of John and Bertha (Mahlich) Voss. Valeria attended Maple Corner Grade School and graduated from Kiel High School. On Sept. 14, 1946, she married Lester G. Nohl at her parents’ home. He preceded her in death on Feb. 26, 2001.

After raising her family, Valeria was employed by Lakeland University in food service for over 25 years.

She was an active member of Bethel United Church of Christ and a member of the Card Club for over 40 years. She also enjoyed sewing and crocheting, making many quilts, wedding dresses and alterations.

Valeria loved spending time with her grandkids, taking them wherever they needed to be and passing on her sewing skills to her granddaughters. She looked forward to her time with Lester, especially when they were able to travel throughout the U.S.

Valeria is survived by her daughter, Mardell (Steve) Blohm; son-in-law Richard Ernst; grandchildren Tina (Bill) Lutz, Tonya (Dean) Dvorak, Tim (Michelle) Nohl, Tiffany Nohl (Sam Beebe), Letitia (Casey) Prine, Jonathan Blohm (Liz Hagedorn), Cindy (Jason) Fenderick, Julie (Ryan) Syse, Ricky (Natasha) Ernst and Ryan (fiancée Nicole Henning) Ernst. She was “Gg” to her great-grandchildren Adam, Greg and Jordan Lutz, Emma and Elizabeth Dvorak, Adam and Nathan Nohl, Alex and Sasha Prine, Ethan and Aaron Fendrick, Raedyn and Riley Syse, Alayna Lambrecht and Mya and Lyza Ernst; and her sister-in-law, Sally Nohl. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents and husband Lester, she was preceded in death by her son Leander (Phyllis) Nohl; her daughter, JoAnn Ernst; sisters-in-law Leora (Harvey) Hanke, Mildred (Billy) Roehl, Elaine (Elroy) Dedering and Adeline (Billy) Fasse; and brothers-in-law Orville (Mary) Nohl and Roland Nohl.

A time of visitation will be on Saturday, March 13 from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at Meiselwitz-Vollstedt Funeral Home, 815 6th St., Kiel. A private family service will be held. Interment will take place at Kiel City Cemetery. Please visit www.meiselwitzfh.com to leave online condolences.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund will be established at Bethel United Church of Christ.
