Injuries and COVID continue to haunt the New Holstein wrestling team and that was evident in their final Eastern Wisconsin Conference dual match last week Tuesday as Chilton/Hilbert scored an easy 60-15 win at Chilton High School.

Of the three contested matches, the Huskies won two of them.

At 106 pounds, Jack Lisowe decisioned the Tigers’ Kaydance Nolan, 7-1, and Joey Belair pinned Chilton’s Ashton Geiger in 3:17 of their 132 pound match. Hunter Heller of Chilton/Hilbert pinned Bailey Birschbach in 1:17 at 120 pounds.

Conference administrators have voted not to have an Eastern Wisconsin Conference Tournament which would have been last Saturday at Sheboygan Falls. Thus, regular season champ Brillion will be declared conference champ with a 6-0 dual record. It is the Lions third consecutive championship.

WIAA Division 2 Regional action is this coming Saturday starting at 10 am at Kiel for both Chilton/Hilbert and New Holstein.
