For the first time in nearly two decades a member of the Hoerth family will not be coaching the Chilton/Hilbert wrestling team, but a familiar face will be guiding the reigns as former assistant Mike Brocker takes over for the retired Gerald Hoerth.
The Chilton/Hilbert wrestling preview:
CHILTON/HILBERT WRESTLING
COACH: Mike Brocker (1st season)
2019-20 RECORD: 2nd place in Eastern Wisconsin Conference duals; 2nd Place at EWC Tournament; five state qualifiers.
2019-20 REVIEW: At state, Joey Boehnlein took third (126 pounds), Gaven Lisowe was fourth (160) and Trent Breckheimer was also fourth (170). Maverik Ott (138) and Kaiden Mikalowski (182) also went to state. All were seniors. Other sectional qualifiers were Phoenix Ladd (132), Devin Aull (145), Dylan Anhalt (152) and Reed Breckheimer (195). Conference champions were Boehnlein, Lisowe and Trent Breckheimer.
2020-21 PREVIEW: Brocker faces a major rebuild in his debut season as he must replace nine seniors. Returning lettermen are Reed Breckheimer, Hunter Heller, Kaydance Nolan and Logan See.
Brocker says the depth for his squad comes in the lighter weights and C/H may struggle a little at the upper weights, but should be okay. Brillion has won the last two conference titles and are loaded again. Look for TR, Chilton/Hilbert and Kiel to be in the chase in a COVID-reduced schedule which sees conference duals only in the regular season. There will be no invitationals or multi-dual meets. Post season action is also moved up two weeks.
