Brianna Guelig (#3) scored a crucial second half goal in New Holstein's 2-0 win over Sturgeon Bay

Goals by Lauren Danes and Brianna Guelig, as well as solid goalkeeping from Grace Schisel lifted New Holstein to a 2-0 non-conference girls soccer win over a stubborn Sturgeon Bay squad in the Huskies home opener Thursday night.

"Although Sturgeon Bay was very physical, they just never really got anything going offensively," said NH coach Steve Conrad.

"They had 2 shots on goal in the first half and probably 2 in the second half and one being just outside the goal box, but Grace Schisel made a great save on the ball. Huskies definitely controlled the ball most of game although we where a bit sore yet from the first game the girls definitely started moving the ball better the second half, with more control in the middle."
