Kiel GBB Letterwinners

Another successful year looks likely for Kiel girls basketball under new head coach Jamie Vandermeuse as the Raiders return nine girls from a year ago. From left: Emma Adlemann, Reagan Isselmann, Brooklyn Manz, Halle Meyer, Coryn Fromm, Allison Ash, Jocelyn Aprill, Elsie Lucas and Carleen Meyer

Jeremy Bushman’s tenure as Kiel girls basketball coach is nearly legendary as his teams rewrote the Raider record book the past 11 seasons. The baton is now handed off to former Brillion assistant Jamie Vandermeuse and Vandermeuse inherits a very veteran squad that should contend for the Eastern Wisconsin Conference title.

The Kiel girls basketball preview:

Head Coach: Jamie Vandermeuse (1st Season)

2020-21 RECORD: 9-5 Conference (2nd place); 14-9 overall.

2020-21 REVIEW: Jocelyn Aprill was voted Second Team All-EWC while Honorable Mention went Coryn Fromm, Allison Ash and Emma Adlemann. Ellie Mueller was the lone senior on the squad that tied Valders for second place in the conference, four games behind champion Brillion. Kiel was very consistent with their streaks last year as they won four-in-a-row on three different occasions.

2021-22 PREVIEW: Coach Vandermeuse steps into an ideal situation as all nine players on the varsity roster are returning letter winners led by Aprill, Ash, Adlemann and Fromm. Also back are Brooklyn Manz, Elizabeth Lucas, Halle Meyer, Carleen Meyer and Reagan Isselmann. “I intend on staying with nine on varsity, but illness and injuries will dictate whether we move someone up from JV,” says Vandermeuse. Becky Fromm returns to the coaching staff as an assistant and former Bushman assistant and JV coach Galen LaDuke will be back on the bench as well. Kiel should be the main threat to defending champ Brillion, but the Lions return most of their squad as well. Look for New Holstein to join the mix too.
