NH BBB Lettermen

Dale Forstner will have these returning lettermen to work with in his first season as New Holstein boys basketball coach. From left: Jaden Braun, Phillip Casper and Henry Schnell.

Dale Forstner coached Stockbridge to one of its best boys basketball seasons in school history a year ago. Forstner hopes to bring some of that magic to New Holstein as he takes over for Jason Hoerth as varsity head coach. He faces a bit of a rebuilding job, but the Huskies will be athletic.

The New Holstein boys basketball preview:

NEW HOLSTEIN BOYS BASKETBALL

Head Coach: Dale Forstner (1st Season)

2020-21 RECORD: 4-9 Conference (5th place); 6-11 overall.

2020-21 REVIEW: COVID played a major role as several non-conference games had to be postponed. Sam Casper and Cameron Olson each were voted Honorable Mention All-Eastern Wisconsin Conference. They were seniors as were Cooper Olson, Sam Cady, Jacob Kremer, Trevor Roehrig, Kent Blatz, Adam Scholz and David Rojas. The Huskies upset Cedar Grove-Belgium in their regional opener before falling in a tight battle to Kiel in the regional semifinal.

2021-22 PREVIEW: Of the 14 players on the pre-season varsity roster, only four are seniors, so the Huskies will be rather inexperienced. Lettermen Jadon Braun and Henry Schnell join Tyler Gebhart and Logan Gulig. Phillip Casper is a junior lettermen and the main man inside. Other juniors are Logan Kremer, Sean Floyd, Hunter Boldt, Will Zimmerman, Conner Woelfel, Noah Hausler and Mason Schmitz.

Keaton Wagner and Austin Kremer are sophomore prospects.

Forstner’s style is usually uptempo which will make the Huskies fun to watch. Manitowoc Roncalli, the defending champ, is the team to beat with Brillion and Valders considered strong challengers. That leaves NH with a chance to be the surprise team in the conference.
