The Husky wrestling program returns seven grapplers and hope to make a bit of a move in the conference, but depth will be a concern.
The New Holstein wrestling preview:
NEW HOLSTEIN WRESTLING
COACH: Josh Buechel (7th season)
2019-20 RECORD: 1-5 (5th place) in Eastern Wisconsin Conference duals; 6th Place at EWC Tournament; No state qualifiers.
2019-20 REVIEW: The lone conference dual win came over Valders and NH scored non-con wins over Clintonville, Fox Valley Lutheran and Division 1 Sheboygan North. At the conference meet, Joey Belair (113 pounds) and Kaleb Lisowe (120) each took third. Sectional qualifier was Jon Sesing who needed just one more win to make state at 195 pounds. He was a senior, as were Mackenzie Ditter, Jarod Henschel, Trevor Vogel, Nathan Boehnlein, Jacob Rach and Devyn Birschbach.
2020-21 PREVIEW: The COVID pandemic has taken its toll on the schedule as New Holstein will have just conference duals, plus a non-conference dual at St. Lawrence Seminary, and no invitationals during the regular season. Belair and Michael Volz lead the list of seven returnees. Volz just missed making state two years ago. Others back are Bailey Birschbach, Aiden West, Josh Rach, Zander Totzke and Caden Schrage.
The Huskies cannot afford injuries if they are to move up in the Eastern Wisconsin Conference standings. But several individuals could make their mark on the mat.
