The top three spots in the East Shore Baseball League are pretty much sewn up while the hunt for the fourth and final playoff spot is up in the air among five teams. Here are the game recaps:
FOREST 16 MARYTOWN 4
Forest stayed a game back of the lead with a seven-inning thumping of Marytown as Koy Walsh homered among his three hits. Jackson Schroeder banged out three hits also while Caden Krug and Austin Narges had two each to back up winning pitcher Trevor Ranthum. Justin Weber had two hits for Marytown while Randy Smith and Brad Schroeder each doubled.
HOWARDS GROVE 9 ST. PETER 3
Former Plymouth baseball standout Zac Cain blasted a homer and had three hits to lead the Riverdogs. Nic Koening and Eric Reinemann had two hits. Benton Deanovich homered and had three hits for St. Peter. The win went to Austin Edge. The loss went to Jason Schneider.
MOUNT CALVARY 10 CHILTON 3
The Crusaders swept the season series as winning pitcher Matt Wells had three hits. Kaine Mertens, Hunter Petrie and Kayden Judkins all had two hits. Tim Kolbe cranked out two hits for Chilton and Jake Criter took the loss.
JOHNSBURG 10 CLEVELAND 4
Theodore Schnell topped the Nightswallows with three hits with Trent Nickel, Roman Skorupa and Owen Olson collecting two hits each to make a winner out of Corbin Thompson. Game hitting honors went to Cleveland’s Pete and Charlie Reschke, each with four. Billy McConnell was the losing pitcher.
ST. CLOUD 3 MARYTOWN 0
Eric Feldner hurled the shutout and Mitch Waechter wrapped three hits for the Skeeters. Luke Gellings tripled and Feldner doubled. Austin Schrage had two hits for Marytown with Erik Hansen pitching well despite the defeat.
This Sunday finds Forest hosting Cleveland in its Booster Day game at Dotyville. Other 12:30 games have Johnsburg at Mount Calvary and Chilton at St. Peter while at 1 pm, Howards Grove welcomes St. Cloud. Marytown has the weekend off.
