Friday’s Kiel-Brillion boys basketball followed the same script from when the two met three nights earlier. The result was the same.
This time, Kiel held on for a 73-66 Eastern Wisconsin Conference victory at Kiel High School to stay two games behind conference leader Manitowoc Roncalli. Kiel beat the Lions, 65-63, at Brillion last Tuesday.
“Yes. Very similar games,” stated Kiel head coach Marcus Rumpff about the two matchups with the Lions.
“At Brillion, they missed a shot to tie it at the end and tonight wasn’t quite as dramatic, but no lead was safe.”
After trailing at halftime, Kiel took a 15-point lead in the second half before the Lions roared back in the final minutes, but could not overtake the Raiders.
Carson Lepisto led four Raiders in double figure scoring with 23 points. Game scoring honors went to Brillion’s Jeremy Lorenz with 24 while Hunter Krepline added 21.
The JV1 game went to Kiel 47-27. There was no JV2 game.
More on this game in next week’s Tri-County News.
