Mike Volz in his opening match

Kiel freshman Eyan Dessellier was the only local wrestler to win his quarterfinal opening match at the WIAA State Individual Wrestling Tournament in Adams Saturday morning.

Dessellier pinned Mason Mau of Belleville/New Glarus/Monticello at 2:57 of their 12 0 pound battle. The Raider moves onto the semifinals to take on another freshman in Brody Hart of Winneconne early this afternoon. Both are unbeaten.

Two other Kiel grapplers lost heartbreakers.

At 126, Andrew Schad was up 8-3 on Jordan Dolata of Adams-Friendship, only to have Dolata rally to force overtime before scoring a takedown for a 10-8 win.

Joah Lund, at 132, led late before going to overtime where he fell 4-3 in two overtimes to Chase Kmosena of Mosinee.

Another tough loss went to New Holstein's Mike Volz as he was in process of taking down Evan Miller of Winneconne, but needed a couple more seconds. Volz lost 4-3.

Ezekiel Sippel of Kiel lost on a 15-0 technical fall to Wrightstown's Kaiden Koltz and Isaac VandeerMeer was pinned at 182 pounds by Clayton Whiting of Oconto Falls.

Chilton/Hilbert's Hunter Heller lost on a 3:16 pin to Colton Hush of Baldwin-Woodville and Reed Breckheimer was pinned at 195 pound by Sam Galoff of Brillion.

Opening round losers can still wrestleback for medals.
